28395407eb nir/opt_peephole_select: collapse nested IFs if applicable
Single-sided nested IFs can sometimes be collapsed
even if they cannot be flattened.
This optimization re-uses block_check_for_allowed_instrs()
to determine if it is beneficial to collapse the IFs.
Additionally, it is required that the phis of the outer IF
become trivial after this optimization, so that no additional
bcsel instructions are added.
This optimization turns

9d377c01d0 nir: Make nir_deref_instr::mode a bitfield
We rename it to "modes" to make it clear that it may contain more than
one mode and adjust all the uses of nir_deref_instr::modes to attempt to
handle multiple modes.

e342d6970b nir/opt_peephole_select: Don't count some unary operations
In many cases, fsat, fneg, fabs, ineg, and iabs will get folded into
another instruction as either source or destination modifiers.
Counting them as instructions means that some if-statements won't get
converted to selects.  For example,

block_1 isn't really 6 instructions, but it will be counted that way.

Most callers of the peephole_select pass use either 1 or 8.  It's very
easy to blow way past either of these limits with things that are really
only one or two actual instructions.

I also tried some fancier things like making sure the fsat was of
another SSA def from the same block, but the simple test was actually
better.

The i965 back-end SEL peephole pass still helps ~700 shaders in
shader-db with this change.

f2dc0f2872 nir: Drop imov/fmov in favor of one mov instruction
The difference between imov and fmov has been a constant source of
confusion in NIR for years.  No one really knows why we have two or when
to use one vs. the other.  The real reason is that they do different
things in the presence of source and destination modifiers.  However,
without modifiers (which many back-ends don't have), they are identical.
Now that we've reworked nir_lower_to_source_mods to leave one abs/neg
instruction in place rather than replacing them with imov or fmov
instructions, we don't need two different instructions at all anymore.

e76ae39ae2 nir: add support for user defined select control
This will allow us to make use of the selection control support in
spirv and the GL support provided by EXT_control_flow_attributes.

Note this only supports if-statements as we dont support switches
in NIR.

2623653126 nir: Unset metadata debug bit if no progress made
NIR metadata validation verifies that the debug bit was unset (by a call
to nir_metadata_preserve) if a NIR optimization pass made progress on
the shader. With the expectation that the NIR shader consists of only a
single main function, it has been safe to call nir_metadata_preserve()
iff progress was made.

However, most optimization passes calculate progress per-function and
then return the union of those calculations. In the case that an
optimization pass makes progress only on a subset of the functions in
the shader metadata validation will detect the debug bit is still set on
any unchanged functions resulting in a failed assertion.

This patch offers a quick solution (short of a larger scale refactoring
which I do not wish to undertake as part of this series) that simply
unsets the debug bit on unchanged functions.

378f996771 nir/opt_peephole_select: Don't peephole_select expensive math instructions
On some GPUs, especially older Intel GPUs, some math instructions are
very expensive.  On those architectures, don't reduce flow control to a
csel if one of the branches contains one of these expensive math
instructions.

This prevents a bunch of cycle count regressions on pre-Gen6 platforms
with a later patch (intel/compiler: More peephole select for pre-Gen6).

09b7e1d8e4 nir/opt_peephole_select: Don't try to remove flow control around indirect loads
That flow control may be trying to avoid invalid loads.  On at least
some platforms, those loads can also be expensive.

No shader-db changes on any Intel platform (even with the later patch
"intel/compiler: More peephole select").

v2: Add a 'indirect_load_ok' flag to nir_opt_peephole_select.  Suggested
by Rob.  See also the big comment in src/intel/compiler/brw_nir.c.

v3: Use nir_deref_instr_has_indirect instead of deref_has_indirect (from
nir_lower_io_arrays_to_elements.c).

v4: Fix inverted condition in brw_nir.c.  Noticed by Lionel.

d80c342d89 nir: add deref lowering sanity checking
This will be removed at the end of the transition, but add some tracking
plus asserts to help ensure that lowering passes are called at the
correct point (pre or post deref instruction lowering) as passes are
converted and the point where lower_deref_instrs() is called is moved.

2ed17d46de nir: Make nir_foo_first/last_cf_node return a block instead
One of NIR's invariants is that control flow lists always start and end
with blocks.  There's no good reason why we should return a cf_node from
these functions since we know that it's always a block.  Making it a block
lets us remove a bunch of code.

36f0f03182 nir: Allow opt_peephole_sel to be more aggressive in flattening IFs.
VC4 was running into a major performance regression from enabling control
flow in the glmark2 conditionals test, because of short if statements
containing an ffract.

This pass seems like it was was trying to ensure that we only flattened
IFs that should be entirely a win by guaranteeing that there would be
fewer bcsels than there were MOVs otherwise.  However, if the number of
ALU ops is small, we can avoid the overhead of branching (which itself
costs cycles) and still get a win, even if it means moving real
instructions out of the THEN/ELSE blocks.

For now, just turn on aggressive flattening on vc4.  i965 will need some
tuning to avoid regressions.  It does looks like this may be useful to
replace freedreno code.

Improves glmark2 -b conditionals:fragment-steps=5:vertex-steps=0 from 47
fps to 95 fps on vc4.

9128acfb57 nir: Allow opt_peephole_select to work on empty blocks.
nir_opt_peephole_select has the job of removing IF statements with no side
effects.  However, if the IF statement's successor didn't have any
instructions in it, we were skipping it, which occurred in mupen64 on vc4
with glsl_to_nir enabled:

instructions in affected programs:     6134 -> 4120 (-32.83%)
total uniforms in shared programs: 38268 -> 38219 (-0.13%)

No changes on Haswell shader-db.
