This event is just used to notify the caller when the tool's no longer in proximity. When an event like this occurs, everything from evdev up until the next EV_SYN event is discarded along with any events that occured since the last EV_SYN event. This also silences any tool update events where the tool type is changed to LIBINPUT_TOOL_NONE, so we don't end up filling the tool list with a bunch of tools that aren't actually tools. libinput libinput is a library that handles input devices for display servers and other applications that need to directly deal with input devices. It provides device detection, device handling, input device event processing and abstraction so minimize the amount of custom input code the user of libinput need to provide the common set of functionality that users expect. Input event processing includes scaling touch coordinates, generating pointer events from touchpads, pointer acceleration, etc. libinput originates from weston, the Wayland reference compositor.
