Better protection against buffer overflow, though by the time someone is manipulating your sysfs, libevdev is unlikely to be the biggest worry. Slight change in functionality: before we checked the timestamp of /sys/devices/virtual/input/inputXYZ before looking at /inputXYZ/name, now we just check the name file for the timestamp. libevdev - wrapper library for evdev input devices
libevdev is a wrapper library for evdev devices. it moves the common tasks when dealing with evdev devices into a library and provides a library interface to the callers, thus avoiding erroneous ioctls, etc.

The eventual goal is that libevdev wraps all ioctls available to evdev devices, thus making direct access unnecessary.
