Íñigo Huguet 9a3462af99 release.sh: fix a few small bugs and typos 
Fix typo freedestkop -> freedesktop.

Removed unused argument of check_news (additionally, it was incorrectly
using @ instead of $).

Fixed incorrect use of `$? = 0` that was always successful.
