l3cd instances must be removed from the old l3cfg before calling
_cleanup_ip_pre(). Otherwise, _cleanup_ip_pre() unregisters them from
the device, and later _dev_l3_register_l3cds(self, l3cfg_old, FALSE,
FALSE) does nothing because the device doesn't have any l3cd.
Previously the l3cds would linger in the l3cfg, keeping a reference to
it and causing a memory leak; the leak was not detected by valgrind
because the l3cfg was still referenced by the NMNetns.

ASSUME is causing more troubles than benefits it provides. This patch is
dropping NM_L3_CFG_COMMIT_TYPE_ASSUME and assume_config_once. NM3LCfg
will commit as if the sys-iface-state is MANAGED.
This patch is part of the effort to remove ASSUME from NetworkManager.
After ASSUME is dropped when starting NetworkManager it will take full
control of the interface, re-configuring it. The interface will be
managed from the start instead of assumed and then managed.
This will solve the situations where an interface is half-up and then a
restart happens. When NetworkManager is back it won't add the missing
addresses (which is what assume does) so the interface will fail during
the activation and will require a full activation.

When attaching a bond port, kernel will reset the MTU of the port ([1],
[2]). Configuring a different MTU on the port seems not a sensible
thing for the user to do.
Still, before commit e67ddd826f ('device: commit MTU during stage2')
we would first attach the bond port before setting the MTU. That
changed, and now the MTU set by kernel wins.
Btw, this change in behavior happens because we attach the port in
stage3 (ip-config), which seems an ugly thing to do.
Anyway, fix this by setting the MTU after attaching the ports, but still
in stage3.
It is probably not sensible for the user to configure a different MTU.
Still, if the user requested it by configuration, we should apply it.
Note that NetworkManager has some logic to constrain the MTU based on
the parent/child and controller/port. In many regards however, NetworkManager
does not fully understand or enforce the correct MTU and relies on the
user to configure it correctly. After all, if the user misconfigures the
MTU, the setup will have problems anyway (and in many cases neither
kernel nor NetworkManager could know that the configuration is wrong).

When we have a bridge interface with ports attached externally (that is,
not by NetworkManager itself), then it can make sense that during
checkpoint rollback we want to keep those ports attached.
During rollback, we may need to deactivate the bridge device and
re-activate it. Implement this, by setting a flag before deactivating,
which prevents external ports to be detached. The flag gets cleared,
when the device state changes to activated (the following activation)
or unmanaged.
This is an ugly solution, for several reasons.
For one, NMDevice tracks its ports in the "slaves" list. But what
it does is ugly. There is no clear concept to understand what it
actually tacks. For example, it tracks externally added interfaces
(nm_device_sys_iface_state_is_external()) that are attached while
not being connected. But it also tracks interfaces that we want to attach
during activation (but which are not yet actually enslaved). It also tracks
slaves that have no actual netdev device (OVS). So it's not clear what this
list contains and what it should contain at any point in time. When we skip
the change of the slaves states during nm_device_master_release_slaves_all(),
it's not really clear what the effects are. It's ugly, but probably correct
enough. What would be better, if we had a clear purpose of what the
lists (or several lists) mean. E.g. a list of all ports that are
currently, physically attached vs. a list of ports we want to attach vs.
a list of OVS slaves that have no actual netdev device.
Another problem is that we attach state on the device
("activation_state_preserve_external_ports"), which should linger there
during the deactivation and reactivation. How can we be sure that we don't
leave that flag dangling there, and that the desired following activation
is the one we cared about? If the follow-up activation fails short (e.g. an
unmanaged command comes first), will we properly disconnect the slaves?
Should we even? In practice, it might be correct enough.
Also, we only implement this for bridges. I think this is where it makes
the most sense. And after all, it's an odd thing to preserve unknown,
external things during a rollback -- unknown, because we have no knowledge
about why these ports are attached and what to do with them.
Also, the change doesn't remember the ports that were attached when the
checkpoint was created. Instead, we preserve all ports that are attached
during rollback. That seems more useful and easier to implement. So we
don't actually rollback to the configuration when the checkpoint was
created. Instead, we rollback, but keep external devices.
Also, we do this now by default and introduce a flag to get the previous
behavior.

After the first time committing, the routes and addresses are removed
directly by bypassing the l3cfg in `nm_device_cleanup()`, then when
committing the second time, the l3cfg think that some addresses are
still configured but they are actually already disappeared from the
kernel already.
To fix it, commit the l3cd changes through l3cfg instead of removing
the addresses/routes directly.

The general idea is that when we have entries tracked by the
route-manager, that we can mark them all as dirty. Then, calling the
"track" function will reset the dirty flag. Finally, there is a method
to delete all dirty entries.
As we can lookup an entry with O(1) (using dictionaries), we can
sync the list of tracked objects with O(n). We just need to track
all the ones we care about, and then delete those that were not touched
(that is, are still dirty).
Previously, we had to explicitly mark all entries as dirty. We can do
better. Just let nmp_route_manager_untrack_all() mark the survivors as
dirty right away. This way, we can save iterating the list once.
It also makes sense because the only purpose of the dirty flag is to
aid this prune mechanism with track/untrack-all. So, untrack-all can
just help out, and leave the remaining entries dirty, so that the next
track does the right thing.

Routes of type blackhole, unreachable, prohibit don't have an
ifindex/device. They are thus in many ways similar to routing rules,
as they are global. We need a mediator to keep track which routes
to configure.
This will be very similar to what NMPRulesManager already does for
routing rules. Rename the API, so that it also can be used for routes.
Renaming the file will be done next, so that git's rename detection
doesn't get too confused.

The metered status can depend on the DHCP lease, as we accept the
ANDROID_METERED vendor option. That means, on a DHCP update we need
to re-evaluate the metered flag.
This fixes a potential race, where IPv6 might succeed first and
activation completes (with GUESS_NO metered flag). A subsequent
DHCPv4 update requires to re-evaluate that decision.

When the NM_UNMANAGED_PLATFORM_INIT flag is cleared last in
device_link_changed(), a recheck-assume is scheduled and then the
device goes immediately to UNAVAILABLE. During the state transition,
addresses and routes are removed from the interface. Then,
recheck-assume finds that the device can be assumed but it's too late
since the device was already deconfigured.
This is a problem as the whole point of assuming a device is to
activate a connection while leaving the device untouched.
In the NMCI "dracut_NM_vlan_over_bridge and dracut_NM_vlan_over_bond"
test, NM in real root tries to assume a vlan device that was activated
in initrd. When the interface gets deconfigured in UNAVAILABLE, the
connection to the NFS server breaks and the rootfs becomes
inaccessible.
The fix to this problem is to delay state transitions in
device_link_changed() to a idle handler, so that recheck-assume can
run before.

nm_device_set_unmanaged_by_user_settings() does nothing when the
device is unmanaged by platform-init. Remove the if branch to make
this more explicit.
Now that higher priorities numbers really mean more important,
it seems that the VPN configuration should be rather important.
Bump the number, also in relation to NMDevice's L3ConfigDataType.
It might not matter too much, because usually the VPN tunnel device does
not have NDevice to add other l3cds and those from VPN might be alone.
Except, maybe with routing VPN (libreswan) that is different. Dunno.
NM_L3CFG_CONFIG_PRIORITY_IPV6LL and L3_CONFIG_DATA_TYPE_LL_6 are
somewhat related. They probably should be numerically identical.
Now, L3_CONFIG_DATA_TYPE_LL_6 cannot be zero (because
L3_CONFIG_DATA_TYPE_LL_4 is zero and L3ConfigDataType values must be
distinct). Therefore, also bump NM_L3CFG_CONFIG_PRIORITY_IPV6LL to 1.
Of course, NM_L3CFG_CONFIG_PRIORITY_IPV6LL is not obviously more important
than NM_L3CFG_CONFIG_PRIORITY_IPV4LL. But to be consistent with
L3_CONFIG_DATA_TYPE_LL_6 is probably more important here.
There was a disagreement whether higher priority numbers mean more/less
important. NMDevice and callers of nm_l3cfg_add_config() assumed that
higher numbers are more important, while _l3_config_datas_get_sorted_cmp()
did the inverse.
There is no obvious right or wrong. We only need to agree. It seems
slightly more sensible to keep the caller's interpretation.
This commit does not seem correct. The enum was moved with the declared
intent to make manual IP configuration preferred. But the code comment
in L3ConfigDataType states that higher numbers are more important.
Also, all the other values are intentionally ordered so that more
important method have higher numbers. For example, LL_4 < DHCP_4 < SHARED_4 <
DEV_4 (in increasing priority). While it's often not clear whether to
prefer one method over the other, or what the actual effect of (LL_4 < DHCP_4)
is, the numbers were chosen intentionally.
Only moving MANUALIP first, counters the relative order of the other values.
If there is the problem, that the code comment is wrong (and lower
numbers mean more important), then we would have to reverse all
enum values.
The real problem is that NML3Cfg's _l3_config_datas_get_sorted_cmp()
has the wrong order/understanding. So the real fix is there and will
be done next. That is, unless we would agree that _l3_config_datas_get_sorted_cmp()
is in the right, and prefer lower numbers -- in which case all values had to be
reversed.
This reverts commit af1903fe3f.
For IPv6 the lease doesn't necessarily have an address. If the address
is missing or the DHCP client doesn't implement accept(), we don't
need to wait for the address in platform.

When a lease is obtained, currently NMDevice performs a synchronous
commit of IP configuration and then accepts the lease.
Instead, let NMDevice only schedule a async commit; when the DHCP
client notices that the new address was committed it will
automatically accept it and emit a new signal so that the device can
succeed the activation.
Sync commits should be avoided because a commit does of things which
are outside the control of the caller (see the comment in
nm_device_l3cfg_commit()). Furthermore, when there are many pending
activations, async commits seem to help in reducing the CPU usage.
While making the commit async, also move the responsibility of the
accept() to NMDhcpClient.
If the ovs interface goes away, the ifindex gets zeroed out and l3cfg is
cleaned. We can't follow up with IP configuration. Bad things happen if

This bumps L3_CONFIG_DATA_TYPE_MANUALIP to be the most important address
source; which is what had been the case before NetworkManager/next and
is presumably what the user expects.
It also comes into play for iBFT-booted machines, where iBFT contains a
permanent address (no lifetime data), while DHCP might lease out the
same one. In that case, expiry of the latter could potentially disrupt
connectivity to a vital storage volume.

We use clang-format for automatic formatting of our source files.
Since clang-format is actively maintained software, the actual
formatting depends on the used version of clang-format. That is
unfortunate and painful, but really unavoidable unless clang-format
would be strictly bug-compatible.
So the version that we must use is from the current Fedora release, which
is also tested by our gitlab-ci. Previously, we were using Fedora 34 with
clang-tools-extra-12.0.1-1.fc34.x86_64.
As Fedora 35 comes along, we need to update our formatting as Fedora 35
comes with version "13.0.0~rc1-1.fc35".
An alternative would be to freeze on version 12, but that has different
problems (like, it's cumbersome to rebuild clang 12 on Fedora 35 and it
would be cumbersome for our developers which are on Fedora 35 to use a
clang that they cannot easily install).
The (differently painful) solution is to reformat from time to time, as we
switch to a new Fedora (and thus clang) version.
Usually we would expect that such a reformatting brings minor changes.
But this time, the changes are huge. That is mentioned in the release
notes [1] as

Problem: if l3cfg commits an address and routes from DHCP, when the
address expires those objects are removed automatically. NM tracks the
objects as missing as if the user removed them. This is to prevent
l3cfg to committing them again. If the lease if renewed, l3cfg should
be allowed to commit those objects again.
Introduce a l3cd flag to indicate that it should be force-committed
once, and propagate this flag to platform objects. In this way, l3cfg
can avoid committing again objects that are removed externally, but it
can commit them when the l3cd changes.

When a route has the connectivity check enabled and does not have
full connectivity, it should have its route metric penalized,
this way this route will not be preferred over others.

When doing a reapply the ip_state must be set as PENDING, if not the
ipdhcp_state won't be extended to ip_state.
In addition, if one of the IP configuration is ready and the other may
fail, then we should consider it ready. The other ip state does not
matter at all, it can be none too.

Sticky update flag forces a commit at UPDATE level after unmanaging
a device. As a result, all the link local addresses will be removed.
To prevent the commit after unmanaging a device, clear sticky update
flag.

If addrgenmode=0 is already set, the function should still toggle
disable_ipv6 if needed, to stop the generation of temporary addresses.
Also, it should store the last set value into 'previous_mode_val'.

If we had a lease and it expired, don't fail immediately. The client
will try to obtain a new lease and it will send a NO_LEASE_TIMEOUT
event once it fails. Only at that time we should fail.
When a virtual interface is removed externally, the device is
unrealized and the ifindex is cleared; this also detaches the existing
l3cfg from the device. At this point the l3cd entry for the device
lingers forever in the DNS manager.
Emit a last L3CD_CHANGED so that the old entry gets removed.
